TRUST (IN THE DILEMMA)

Posted By meg coyle irsay

When worry has us by the short hairs and our life force is being drained into the bottomless pit of anxiety over the uncertainty of life, remember this- whatever is happening, whatever the concern is about, when the timing is correct we will be able to act authentically if we can wait out our impulses to react to our anxiety about uncertainty. The future is made of of now moments. When we take care of each moment the future is gauranteed. We cannot take care of the moment if we are worrying about the future while lamenting the past. The ability to act authentically instead of react fearfully is the difference between making our way through the layers of conditioned behavior that are holding us away from the presence required to respond to life in constructive ways. When we are calm (sensitive body, open heart, quiet mind) we can see and feel what is actually happening, and nothing more. We can feel our gut, and feel a capacity to trust the dilemma instead of defend against it. When we can trust the dilemma, we can allow our system to process it and move us forward constructively. By waiting out our impatience and waiting for clarity before we act, we invest in edification and growth. By waiting for our emotions to level out instead of spinning out on the highs or lows, we can engage our life and allow it to move in more satisfying ways. And a satisfying life is never decided. Responding requires a great deal of humility (trust in what we do not know). We live by faith, by everything else, we merely survive. When the going gets tough, when we are afraid and anxious about the uncertainty of life, we can react by throwing all kinds of energy at the “problem” when the only muscle we need is the fortified intention to be still which is very different from holding tight. What is needed in every situation is a sensitive body, an open heart, and a quiet mind.  The mind in a reactive state, will resist the slowed pace required for this formulation. When the mind is open and quiet it will be in alignment with your sense of what is correct moment to moment. Projected calculations only go so far and should not go further as to induce a sense that we should or could  possibly control the outcome of anything. All we can do is pay attention and invest our energy in what is happening right now according to our collective (body, mind, heart) sense of the present. Whatever questions are looming, the first one should always be- are we breathing? And secondly, what do we need to do, or stop doing to remain calm (so we can breathe)?
