This class is a meditation practice using Stationery bicycles in a group setting. Music and community combine to dive deeply into areas of stress in the body and invite the mind to quiet and open. The bicycles have multiple adjustments and the pedals are equipped with cleats.
The work is modulated by varying the resistance on a flywheel attached to the pedals or by sitting or standing in various positions. Movement sequences and imagery are used to simulate terrain and situations encountered in riding on the road, including hills, sprints and jumps.
Inspiring music provides the stimulus to encourage certain tempos; however, each rider is encouraged to make honest and appropriate choices. The goal is to challenge and build capacity, not punish and tear yourself up. Water and a towel are necessary items to bring to class.
